Over 85 Free NHS covid test kits

The government scheme to ensure that vulnerable individuals had access to COVID testing kits so that they could test early in any illness to allow them to go forward to be considered for early anti viral medication is changing. People over 85 will no longer be eligible after June 16..

There is a very simple form to fill in to claim your entitlement. Many people have left as they were too busy to complete the form. This blog is to explain that the service is being discontinued for the over 85s and if you do not collect the free COVID testing kits available to you before the 16th of June you will lose out.

It really is simple. If you are eligible come into the pharmacy and fill in a form which is little more than your name and address and collect the free COVID testing kit.

If you are unable to come in person you can send a representative to collect for you.

The service is available on the NHS for free for everyone over 85 at present. It is also available to people who are considered vulnerable because of health issues. This eligibility is more complex. As an aside, we still have some COVID vaccinations available for those people who have not yet had a COVID vaccination that is due and we're able to provide this NHS service. However, as far as we know once these vaccinations run out we will not be able to obtain anymore. Therefore if you are eligible and want a vaccination it would be wise to organise this as quickly as possible before the supply stops.
